User Types – Editor

This article explains what Editor users can do in ClearPoint.

Editors can enter and update information, view all elements they have access to, and manage element-level details such as owners, descriptions, charts, and Measure calculations. Editors can also add new elements—including Objectives, Measures, and Initiatives—within Scorecards they have permission to access.


Editor User Overview

Editors can perform all actions available to Updaters, plus:

  • Add, edit, duplicate, and delete elements

  • Update both Edit Fields and Update Fields

  • Manage Measure Series, calculations, and evaluations

  • Edit charts and chart settings

  • Modify page layouts

  • Update project details, including Gantt chart information

💡 This makes Editors key contributors in maintaining the structure and content of your strategy.


Edit Fields

Edit Fields contain information that stays consistent across reporting periods such as:

  • Owner

  • Description

  • Data Source

💡 Edit Fields do not include a period label.

To edit an Objective:

  1. Select Elements from the left navigation.

  2. Open Objectives.

  3. Select an Objective (e.g., Direct Routes).

  1. Double-click the Owner field to assign a new owner.

  2. Double-click Description to update the content.

  3. Click the green checkmark ✔️ to save.


Manage Measures

Editors can add, edit, duplicate, delete, and reorder Measures.

  1. Select ElementsMeasures.

  2. Use:

    • Plus (+) to add a new Measure

    • Edit Element (pencil) to modify a Measure

    • Kebab menu (⋮) to Duplicate or Delete

Edit Measure Series

Editors can rename Series, change data types, create calculated Series, and configure automatic evaluations.

Edit a Series

  1. Open a Measure (e.g., Revenue).

  2. In the Measure Data Table, double-click the Series header (e.g., Actual).

  3. Update the Series Name or Data Type.

  4. Click Save.

Add a Calculated Series

  1. On the Series tab choose Calculated Series.

  2. Open the Calculation tab.

  3. Select the source Series (e.g., Actual).

  4. Under Aggregation, choose Calendar YTD Sum.

  5. Click Insert.

Configure Automatic Evaluation

  1. Open the Evaluation tab.

  2. Check the status rules (e.g., Above Target, Caution, Below Plan).

  3. Enter criteria as needed.

  4. Click Save.

Edit Charts

Editors can modify chart names, chart types, and reporting frequencies.

  1. Open a Measure.

  2. Double-click the chart you want to edit.

  3. Update the Chart Name and select a Chart Type.

  4. Open the Chart Periods tab to adjust reporting frequency.

  5. Click Save.

Managing Projects (Initiatives)

Editors can update project dates, percent complete, and progress bars.

  1. Go to ElementsInitiatives.

  2. Select an Initiative (e.g., Purchase 5 new planes).

  3. Double-click fields to edit Start Date, End Date, or mark Completed.

  4. In the Gantt Chart, double-click a bar to edit:

    • Name

    • Status

    • Start/End Dates

    • Percent Complete

  5. Click ✔️ to save.


Changing Page Layout

Editors can customize detail page layouts.

  1. Open an Initiative (or any element).

  2. Click the kebab menu (⋮).

  3. Select Edit Layout.

  4. Drag and drop fields to rearrange the layout.

  5. Click Save.


Diagrams

Editors can access and manage Diagrams.

Diagrams visually represent how Objectives connect across your Scorecards.

  1. Select Elements from the left navigation.

  2. Choose Reports.

  3. Open Diagrams.

  4. Select the map to view or edit (e.g., Upward Air Objectives).

Editor capabilities depend on permissions granted by your ClearPoint administrator.
If you need access to more Scorecards or elements, contact your administrator—they can adjust your permissions as needed.
