Plot Bands provide visual context within your charts by shading areas behind the data to indicate thresholds, target ranges, or specific value zones.
They’re a great way to highlight acceptable performance levels, target goals, or periods when a measure exceeded or fell below expectations.

Example Use Cases

  • Highlighting a Target Range: Shade a region between 80% and 100% to represent “on target” performance.

  • Marking Critical Thresholds: Use a red band for values below 50% to indicate underperformance.

  • Displaying Historical Events: Add a band over a specific date range to show when a project pause or external event occurred.

💡 Plot Bands help viewers instantly interpret whether a metric falls within or outside desired thresholds.

Adding a Plot Band

  1. From the left navigation, click Elements.

  2. Select Measures.

  3. Open the Measure you want to modify (e.g., Expenses).

  4. Enter the range for the band:

    • From – Sets the minimum value on the Y-axis.

    • To – Sets the maximum value on the Y-axis.

    • Repeat to add additional plot bands if needed.

💡 Use multiple plot bands to display visual zones such as low, target, and high performance ranges.
