Year-over-year (YoY) charting lets you compare performance from the current period to the same period in the previous year.
By adding an offset chart series, you can easily visualize long-term trends, spot seasonal patterns, and communicate results more clearly to stakeholders.
Example Use Cases
Year-over-Year (YoY) Comparisons – Compare current performance against the same month last year to identify trends.
Quarter-over-Quarter (QoQ) Comparisons – Use an offset of “-3” for quarterly metrics.
Rolling Period Analysis – Combine current and offset series to visualize year-long performance windows.
💡 Adding YoY data helps identify growth patterns, seasonal changes, and long-term performance shifts.
Adding a Year-over-Year Chart Series
From the left navigation, click Elements.
Select Measures.
Open the Measure you want to update (e.g., Revenue).
Click the kebab menu (⋮) and select Edit Element.
Navigate to the Charts tab.
Select the chart you want to edit
Navigate to the X-Axis tab.
From Chart Date Range, select Plus/Minus N Periods.
Select "-12" Periods.
Click Save.
💡 The offset value “-12” shifts the data back 12 periods—ideal for monthly reporting. For quarterly data, use “-3” instead.
