Organize Your Strategy – Using Manage Elements Views

Learn how to navigate and work with the different views available in Manage Elements.

ClearPoint provides multiple visualization modes to help you review, organize, and update your strategic elements. Each view offers a unique way to interact with Objectives, Measures, Initiatives, Milestones, Action Items, and Risks.


Use the View dropdown in Manage Elements to switch between List, Kanban, Series Data, Dashboard, Explorer, and Gantt views.


Locating the Different Views

You can access all available views from the View dropdown in the Manage Elements page.

  1. From the left navigation, click Elements.

  2. Select an Element (e.g., Initiatives) to open the Manage Initiatives list.

  3. In the top-right corner of the page, locate the View dropdown.

  4. Choose your preferred view:

    • List View – table view for sorting, filtering, and inline edits

    • Kanban View – drag-and-drop workflow board

    • Series Data View – appears when the element type supports data series

    • Dashboard View – appears when charts are available for the element type

    • Explorer View – tree structure for viewing linkages

    • Gantt View – timeline view (only available for Initiatives & Milestones)

Once selected, the page instantly switches to the chosen layout while keeping your filters, search results, and selections intact.


List View

List View is the default view for all element types. It displays your elements in a fully customizable table.

What you can do in List View:

  • Sort by any column

  • Show or hide columns

  • Drag to reorder columns

  • Inline-edit common fields

  • Bulk select elements for editing, deleting, or duplicating

  • Filter or search using the toolbar

List View provides a quick, data-focused way to manage large volumes of elements.


Kanban View

Kanban View offers a drag-and-drop workflow layout, ideal for visualizing progress or managing pipelines.

What you can do in Kanban View:

  • Drag elements between workflow columns

  • Configure columns based on status, frequency, or other fields

  • View high-level element details directly on the cards

  • Quickly identify bottlenecks or items falling behind

Kanban View is available for all element types.


Series Data View

(For Measures and any element with data series)

Series Data View displays Measure data in a time-series editing grid.

What you can do in Series Data View:

  • Edit multiple periods of series data at once

  • Update Status, Analysis, and Recommendations for each period

  • Add or modify data series

  • Use copy-forward options for faster data entry

Use this view when updating Measure data during your reporting cycle.


Dashboard View

(For elements that support charting, such as Measures)

Dashboard View displays the charts associated with an element, offering a visual performance summary.

What you can do in Dashboard View:

  • View all charts linked to an element

  • Click into charts for detailed editing

  • Identify trends, performance shifts, or anomalies

  • Use charts as part of your analysis workflow

Dashboard View is ideal for teams who work visually and need insight into performance at a glance.


Explorer View

Explorer View displays a hierarchical tree of your elements and their linkages. This is the best view for understanding how elements relate across your Scorecard.

What you can do in Explorer View:

  • Expand or collapse parent–child relationships

  • Drag and drop to adjust linkages

  • Visualize alignment between Objectives, Measures, Initiatives, and other elements

  • Identify missing or incorrect link relationships

Explorer View is especially helpful when building or refining your strategic alignment model.


Gantt View

(For Initiatives, Milestones, and Sub-Milestones)

Gantt View shows your schedule in an interactive timeline.

What you can do in Gantt View:

  • Drag start and end dates to adjust timelines

  • View dependencies and milestone hierarchies

  • Update Status and Percent Complete

  • Expand or collapse sub-milestone levels

Use this view to monitor project progress, adjust scheduling, and keep initiatives on track.
